Friday Arts is a story-driven digital platform and nomadic, artist-run gallery for discovering and collecting contemporary art. Through curated exhibitions, intimate studio visits, and cinematic films, we offer a deeper, more personal way to experience and collect contemporary art. Learn more about us.
Sort of. We’re online 24/7 and occasionally appear in person through pop-ups and events. Being nomadic allows us to connect artists and art lovers wherever they are—and to take part in unique opportunities offline. Want to know where we’ll be next? Sign up for our email list in the footer of this website, we promise to keep it meaningful, not spammy.
As storytellers, we pride ourselves on crafting compelling narratives around the art and artists we work with, while centering the artists' voice. After selecting an artist, we get to know their work and process more intimately over the course of multiple studio visits. We research the arc of their practice over the span of their career and contextualize its art historical lineage. We then conduct a series of formal interviews in the artist's studio, which serves as the foundation of our content creation. The interviews you read or watch on this site are edited and condensed for clarity.
We both graduated with honors from Yale, earned our MFAs from Columbia University, and our curatorial sensibility is shaped by our nearly fifty years of combined experience across contemporary art, filmmaking, design and tech. We collaborate closely with each artist to present not only their work, but the story, process, and context behind it. Every work presented on Friday Arts is by an artist with a distinct voice and an established presence in the field of contemporary art. We are not a scroll-through marketplace—we are a curated platform designed to amplify the artist’s vision and offer collectors a meaningful new way to connect with contemporary art.
We feature mostly mid-career artists, who have elevated their craft over many decades. Among their many accomplishments, our artists have received support from the Guggenheim Foundation, Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts. They’ve taught at leading institutions such as Yale, Columbia, and MICA, and have been awarded residencies at MacDowell, the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, and Skowhegan. Institutions exhibiting their work include MoMA PS1, the Whitney Museum of American Art at Altria, the New Museum, SculptureCenter, the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, and the Saint Louis Art Museum. They have presented major public works in multiple countries. Their work is held in numerous private and corporate collections and the permanent collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Rubell Museum, and the Tang Teaching Museum.
We strive to make art accessible while pricing it in alignment with the market and in recognition of the expert creators who made it. Our prices range from a few hundred dollars to the tens of thousands; if you have a budget in mind, you can filter by price on the Artworks section of this site. By collecting art you love, you're not only bringing something meaningful into your own life, you're also supporting artists who have devoted their lives to their practice.
Art has had a long history of patronage, enabling the rich culture not only of our time but of centuries prior. We hope you share our belief in the importance of supporting the creative voices who help us make meaning and sense of our world.

Moving fluidly across mediums, Naess explores the tension between immediacy and structure, celebrating the ephemeral beauty of life as it unfolds and fades.
